Behind the Scenes: The Girl with a Pearl Earring Exhibition


David Brenneman is Director of Collections and the Frances B. Bunzl Family Curator of European Art at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. As curator of the current exhibition, “Behind the Scenes: The Girl with a Pearl Earring Exhibition,” he will discuss the seventeenth-century Dutch paintings from the Mauritshuis Museum in The Hague that are on view, including one of Vermeer’s most famous works, The Girl with a Pearl Earring. His lecture will explore the process of organizing the blockbuster exhibition and coordinating efforts of this massive undertaking with the director, curators, and restorers of the Mauritshuis Museum. The exhibition highlights 35 paintings, including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Jan Vermeer, Frans Hals, Jan Steen, and more.
